Ha Noi: One hundred and thirty animals confiscated in illegal wildlife transportation case
On March 3rd, 2009 the Hanoi Environmental Police, in cooperation with the Hanoi Forest Protection Department, stopped a car that was found to be illegally transporting 130 small Asian mongooses (Herpestes javanicus) near Thanh Tri Bridge. The animals were then transferred to Soc Son Rescue Centre and the case is being investigated for more information.

Da Nang: Restaurant discovered illegally keeping wildlife
On February 26th, 2009 a mobile forest ranger unit from the Da Nang Forest Protection Department found a restaurant in Hai Chau District illegally keeping seven wild animals including two stump-tailed macaques (Macaca arctoides), three assamese macaques (Macaca assamensis) and two green peafowls (Pavo muticus). The animals were confiscated for further investigation.

Quang Binh: Rare sea turtle released
On February 27th, 2009 the Quang Binh Provincial Fisheries Department, in cooperation with the Quang Binh Environmental Police Department, released a 72kg logger head sea turtle (Caretta caretta) which had accidentally been caught by a fisherman in the Dong Hoi sea.

Thanh Hoa: Man fined nearly 230 million VND for illegal wildlife trade
The Thanh Hoa Provincial People’s Committee recently fined a man nearly 230 million VND for transporting 425kg of wild animals without legal permits.

Ha Noi - Ba Ria-Vung Tau: Illegal waste dumping uncovered
On February 26th, 2009, Ha noi Police from Cau Giay District caught two subjects illegally dumping waste around Chua Ha pagoda. In a separate case in Ba Ria-Vung Tau on the same day the Provincial Environmental Police found Hai Long limited Company in Vung Tau city illegally dumping untreated waste into the Dinh River.
