VietNamNet Bridge – Highly-regarded historian Duong Trung Quoc and Miss Vietnam 2006 Mai Phuong Thuy on June 22 launched a trans-Vietnam program for the environment.

The launching ceremony at Hanoi’s Bach Thao Park was the first event for Miss Vietnam Mai Phuong Thuy in the role of environmental ambassador.

Thuy said that she will participate in other activities of the trans-Vietnam tour in Hanoi, HCM City, Hue and other provinces to deliver the message of “joining hands to protect the environment” to Vietnamese people.

The trans-Vietnam cycling tour will start on June 29 at Bach Thao Park and end on August 12 in HCM City. The tour aims to call for people to take part in protecting forests and wild animals.

The tour is the second such programme and is being organised by the Vietnam Nature and Environmental Protection Association, Thua Thien-Hue province’s Centre for Children and Youth and the Cycling Club for Environment C4E.

The first was held in July 2008.
