Alleged Rhino Horn Kingpin Arrested

On April 27, 2017, in cooperation with Hoan Kiem District Police and Ha Dong District Police, Unit 2 of the Anti-Smuggling Police Department arrested Nguyen Mau Chien, the suspected leader of a major criminal network that traffics rhino horn, ivory, tigers and other high-value wildlife products to Vietnam.  The arrest followed the seizure of 33kg of rhino horn at the Hanoi train station earlier on the morning of the 27th during which two of Chien's associates were arrested.




Life Sentence Behind Bars at a Bear Bile Farm

Ha Noi (April 27, 2017) - Education for Nature Vietnam (ENV) has just released its 31st Public Service Announcement (PSA), aimed at urging consumers not to use bear bile and help bring an end to bear farming.



Bears transferred to Tam Dao

HOT: Two unchipped moonbears are on their way to Tam Dao bear sanctuary right now after being illegally taken from the wild as cubs.

The Gia Lai bear owner contacted ENV's wildlife crime hotline in late December wishing to voluntarily transfer the pair. We then got in touch with Gia Lai Forest Protection Department to set the wheels in motion. Today the bears are finally on their way to a new life.
