Vietnamese authorities being alerted of CITES new regulations

As of last month, Laos have been suspended from CITES (the Convention on International Trade in Endangered Species of Wild Fauna and Flora).
This is the result of their failure to comply with CITES’ request for member countries to submit a national ivory action plan. Consequently no permits for wildlife signed by Laotian authorities will be valid. ENV’s Policy & Legislation Department have sent correspondence to Vietnamese authorities along the Laotian border to alert them to this change of legislation to ensure that CITES-listed species are not allowed to transit through Laos into Vietnam.
